Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA): What Data is Taken Into Account?

This brief video explains what data is taken into account when putting together a Community Health Needs Assessment.

Community Health Needs Assessments begin with Primary and Secondary data. Through this data, we can understand which area our practice will service, and who are the individuals that need access to healthcare.

In order to do that, we need to gather both classes of data. In the process of gathering this data, community leaders and other key community members can be consulted, which is very time-consuming.

Because secondary data is so voluminous, it requires sifting through this data to determine how to bring access or care to individuals who otherwise may not have this access.

Furthermore, a hospital may not be able to undertake all the challenges that this report brings to surface. This process will help clarify and strategize which areas of the community’s needs can be served via several mechanisms available to healthcare practices.
